““Role Models” [movie]”

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Saw an advanced screening of the movie Role Models last night (opening in November).  It stars Paul Rudd (K) and Sean William Scott, plus that kid who plays McLovin’ in Superbad.  After learning of the premise (two men are ordered to 150 hours of mentoring kids to avoid jail time), I thought it was gonna be a sappy, feel-good, movie with some message about how helping others is good.  Also, it’s gone through several rewrites and title changes (Mentors, Little Big Men, Big Brothers), which is usually a bad sign.  Then I saw it was an R-rated comedy, so I thought “hmm… how can a movie about the perks of helping kids be R-rated?”

Here’s how: tons of swears, drugs and boobies!  I loved it, and from the comments I overheard while exiting the theater, so did everyone else.  It was fun and funny, raunchy, smart and entertaining.  It didn’t try to preach a message, and I didn’t really walk away with one.  I just enjoyed it.

So come November, go see Role Models.  Plus, Mr. Paul Rudd is super hot.  Yum. :-P

“Friday Afternoon”

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Two hours left in the workday on a Friday afternoon. Things have slowed down. Spent most of today and yesterday implementing A/B testing for a secondary landing page. We won’t know the results for a while, especially since Google has a reporting delay of several hours.

I skipped the gym this morning - bad, I know! :-$ Ugh. This was AFTER I had gone yesterday morning and decided that I was back in my routine. I went to bed around midnight last night because we were watching “Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead.” (~) I really liked it for the most part, though that it got a bit crazy there at the end. Marissa Tomei has an awesome body! (K) (Philip Seymour Hoffman - not so much.)

So the plan is to hit the gym after work. Well, not right away. I’m going to catch the end of the Red Sox game. We need to win these next 3. No way are the Yankees gonna move up, nosiree Bob! Beckett’s pitching. I loved him at the end of last season, but now… blah. He’s been off his game. We really need him to be ON tonight.

As for weekend plans, I wanna catch “The Dark Knight” at some point. I  (L) Christian Bale and “Batman Begins” was awesome.  Was gonna see it tomorrow in IMAX, but all the shows were already sold out when I checked on Tuesday!  :-(  Might end up seeing it at the Arclight instead.

Hopefully, I’ll make the gym tonight.  It’s Friday afternoon, I didn’t get enough sleep, and I don’t know if I want to spend the beginning of my weekend in the gym… humbug. :-P
