“Role Models” [movie]
Saw an advanced screening of the movie Role Models last night (opening in November). It stars Paul Rudd
and Sean William Scott, plus that kid who plays McLovin’ in Superbad. After learning of the premise (two men are ordered to 150 hours of mentoring kids to avoid jail time), I thought it was gonna be a sappy, feel-good, movie with some message about how helping others is good. Also, it’s gone through several rewrites and title changes (Mentors, Little Big Men, Big Brothers), which is usually a bad sign. Then I saw it was an R-rated comedy, so I thought “hmm… how can a movie about the perks of helping kids be R-rated?”
Here’s how: tons of swears, drugs and boobies! I loved it, and from the comments I overheard while exiting the theater, so did everyone else. It was fun and funny, raunchy, smart and entertaining. It didn’t try to preach a message, and I didn’t really walk away with one. I just enjoyed it.
So come November, go see Role Models. Plus, Mr. Paul Rudd is super hot. Yum.
