189 Pounds of Hassle for only $154

Kathy Ireland Sorrento Dresser
Just got in with the dogs. I took them for a bonus walk down to the bank a couple blocks away. I needed to get some cash from the ATM. I’m hoping that I can convince the delivery driver tomorrow to bring my dresser up for an extra $20. The included delivery is only for curbside. If he declines, I have no idea how I’m going to bring a 189 lb dresser in from the sidewalk.
On the bright side, I got a great deal on the dresser! One site had it on sale for $820, free shipping. Another site had it for $449, again with free shipping. But I ended up buying it from a different site, FurnitureBuzz, for only $154! How insane is that? Shipping was also free, which blows my mind. In tracking the shipment, I can see that it was loaded on to a plane in Georgia and arrived at LAX last night. I may not work in logistics, but I would think that it’s kinda expensive to ship a 189 lb item across the country.
Oh well, I’m sure they know what they’re doing. I picked the Kathy Ireland Sorrento dresser mainly for the price. I checked other dressers, including ones from Target and Overstock, but my god, for most of them the shipping cost was about 50% - 80% of the product cost! I would have gotten a used dresser from Goodwill or Out of the Closet but I’d have a hard time getting it home without a car and all so I figured online shopping was the way to go, and I sure got lucky with this dresser! Besides the price, I like the dark finish and the “faux marble” top which will give me a nice surface to set down my cups, bowls, etc. (Yes, I’m a slob.)
Anyway, I now have $20 to bribe the delivery guy tomorrow. I just hate the fact that there’s no definite timeframe and I’ll have to be home all day. There’s also the AT&T technician that is supposed to come by and fix this no-dial-tone thing. He better not try to say there’s nothing wrong and then bill me $55 for the visit …. grrrr…. I will explode.
Alright, time for bed now. I hope tomorrow goes well.
