Photos of Solotica Hidrocor Ocre on Black Eyes

As promised, here’s a picture I just took of my Solotica Hidrocor Ocre colored contact lenses on my nearly black eyes.  They look gray in these photos, but in real life I think they look more brownish-gray.  I asked Tim and he said they look brownish green.  Huh?

I’m still getting used to them… they look kinda cloudy in my opinion.  Not that my vision is cloudy, but the appearance of the contacts itself is.  Hmph.

I made a list of where to buy these Solotica contacts and other contacts on my other entry.

Update February 2010: I put up a better picture of Solotica Hidrocor Ocres here.

    slm vuthy how r u? i will buy solotica lens but i m not deciding which i must buy ocre or mel..ocre seems grey or brown without flash? or mel seems yellow or light green(honey).. i have dark brown eyes..brown hair..skin colour more light than you..please helpp
  • I prefer the mel. Ocre seems gray with a yellowish cast. I think it makes my eyes look cloudy and my sister told me the same thing. In my opinion, the mels are more natural looking. Good luck!

    They take PayPal, but other than that, maybe you can contact them and ask if you can mail in a money order or something? Sometimes I see people selling Solotica lenses on lens forums so you can try searching on Google. Once in a while I will watch a YouTube video of someone wearing Solotica lenses and they'll say in the description that they're selling them. Good luck!

    Hi, I live in China at the moment and desperate to get the genuine Solotica lenses, but don't have credit card to purchase on most of the sites that sell them. Do you know of any sites that sell the real thing, is reliable and accepts other forms of payments, like Money Gram, etc. ?
    I apprecate your help. Thanks

    I use freshlook colorblends grey contacts right now. Would solotica hidrocor grafite or ice be closer to that shade on dark brown eyes?

    thanks!

    @Maria

    Those are two very good issues: border leaking and pupil hole.

    Here's my take: The border leaking is unavoidable if you don't get a limbal ring (hidrocor). However, like you mentioned, it may not be that noticeable unless you're up close or maybe in certain lighting.

    The NC's do have lighter limbal ring, but I also read that they are not as opaque as the hidrocors or hidrocharmes. What this means is that the contact may not change your dark eye color as much.

    Pupil hole: If you have dark eyes like my almost black one, your pupil hole will look kinda weird. Most eyes have a nice blend from the iris to the pupil hole, and contacts try to create a "starburst" leading to the pupil hole. But since my pupil is pretty much the same color as my iris (black) instead of a starburst blend, I just get a pupil that looks like it has blobby edges or like I have a giant pupil sometimes. Did you see my pics of my hidrocharme mels?

    I guess if you want as natural as possiblel, the NCs may be best but it may be too natural that it could look like there's hardly any difference in your eye color. When I got my contacts, I wasn't going for natural since an Asian girl with green eyes isn't that natural anyway. What I can tell you though is that it I wore them for 6 hours and my guy of 8 years didn't notice until I pointed it out to him! I also wear them to work sometimes and the people here don't seem to notice, though sometimes they do say I look different and ask me if I was out in the sun and got a tan!

    Don't worry too much about looking fake - I think any of the Solotica have the most natural looking blending out there.
  • Maria
    yeah. i read that too.
    i also found a pic of that happening to someone, but you can't really tell there is yellow ring unless you get like super close to her actual eye. My eyes are brown/black like the ones in the pic.

    do you see the middle of the lens, where the iris hole is?
    is that the way the hidrocharmes look too?
    does it "give away" that you're wearing contacts, like does it look really fake?
    cause i know freshlooks look fake from like a mile away. lol

    i dont want to get the hidrocharmes because i'm not a big fan of the dark limbal ring, but do u think i should maybe get the NC's then with the lighter limabl ring? i'm not sure....i just want it to not look too fake.

    @Maria

    Hi Maria,

    I personally like the hidrocharmes because they make my eyes look bigger and brighter. However, if you want natural looking, I would go with hidrocors. I bought the hidrocor ocres so I can see what it would look like without the ring and it looks natural but I don't like the color! Which I had bought the hidrocor mels! However, the reason why I bought the ocre was because some reviews said because it was a lighter color, if you have a smaller iris than the contact, the "extra" contact area around your eye won't be so noticeable on to of your white eyeball. I heard that darker contacts, if your iris isn't big enough, will create a weird yellowish ring around your eye and I definitely do not want that! I don't know if you can picture what I'm saying... let me know!
  • Maria
    hey vuthy,

    i just had a question about your solotica hidrocors vs. your hidrocharmes...
    which do you find more natural looking?

    i know you like the mels better, and so do i :] lol.

    but in terms of natural-looking-ness, do you think hidrocor mels would be better than the charmes you have right now?
  • Vuthy
    @ Cheryl

    Thanks! I'm still not used to them and don't really wear them much. I think they look much better in the picture that it looks in the mirror. However, I really love my Mels. The green is awesome!

    Here's a recent pic of my Hidrocharme Mels: http://www.vuthy.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12...

    It amazes me how much it changes my eye color since my natural eyes look black. I hope you enjoy yours!
  • Cheryl
    Wow, the hidrocor ocres look awesome on you! I have dark brown eyes and just ordered them - I hope they lighten my eyes like they did for you - beautiful!
  • Vuthy
    @Dawn

    Yes, I got them from a Brazilian site. They are only available from Brazil as far as I know, and they are thick, but maybe not as thick as my Hidrocharmes. However, that may not be because of the different style but more because the company is inconsistent with their manufacturing. My two Hidrocharme lenses are different thicknesses even though it's the same prescription. These Hidrocor Ocres don't feel exactly the same either.

    This Brazilian site has an English version to make ordering easier:

    Where did you get these lens? I kinda looked around but the sites people posted up are from Portugal/Brazil or something. I'm too lazy to get the page translated. Hah.

    Are the Hidrocor lens thick like the Hidrocharme lens?

    I recently got the Geo Nudy series lens. Love it but it dries my eyes pretty fast. So I'm thinking I should start taking flax oil pills and get Systane drops!!

    BTW you should try using eyeliner on your lower lash line. I think that'll look good on you.. MAC Teddy is HG for me.
  • Tia
    I love these contacts! I want them now. I think it looks good on you. The purple e/s is nice too but you should wear it with beige/nude or peach color lippies only. Pink lips & purple e/s can look eighties. And yea, my hair is way too light. :oT
