Cold Weather Flowers and Photoshop

The high today for Los Angeles is only 66°F; it’s been months since it’s been that cold.  I’m not a big fan of the chilly weather and realized that my wardrobe is desperately in need of more long-sleeved items.

On the bright side, we’re now getting the blossoming of fall flowers.  One of my favorite trees, just a block away, is nearly in full bloom.  I couldn’t resist snapping a picture this morning while walking the dogs.  Unfortunately, all I had with me was my cell phone which takes horrendous pictures.  Thankfully, it’s nothing a little tweaking in Photoshop can’t fix! Check out the results:

Isn’t it beautiful? After the flowers have fallen, the tree usually has one or two “fruits” that look like a cross between a coconut and an avocado.  It’s filled with these silky, floss-like fibers, hence its name, the silk floss tree. (L)

  • That is a beautiful photo! The cell phone version is not bad at all but the photoshop version really "pops".

    Thanks for sharing.
