Vuthy Cooks: Chinese Five-Spice and Honey Ribs

Last night, I made Wandering Chopstick’s Chinese Five-Spice and Honey Ribs. Sorta.

You see, I don’t have any Chinese five-spice powder. I know I know, Asian fail. I thought I had a bottle but apparently that was a memory from a long time ago. Instead, I ground up some fennel seeds and cinnamon. Yes, I have a bottle of fennel seeds but not the popular five-spice, go figure.

It was a satisfactory substitute and gave off an aroma similar to five-spice powder.  When I make this next time, I’ll make more of the rub/marinade for a stronger flavor. Or maybe I’ll just go out and get the actual ingredient!
