“Summer Reading”

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

I got Tim a Nook on his birthday but he hasn't been reading much lately so I, ahem, "borrowed" it. I was an insatiable reader before high school and spent a lot of my afternoons and weekends at the library.  It helped that it was only a few short blocks away from where we lived, allowing ... “Amazing Double Rainbow in Hollywood (Photos & Video)”

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010
My first shot of the rainbow from my balcony.

Around 5 this evening, I got up to investigate the flood of orange light streaming in through the glass doors of my balcony.  I figured the sun was setting, but since it has been dark and stormy all day, the vibrancy of this light caught my eye.  I noticed a guy in a building across ... “How’s your handwriting?”

Thursday, December 24th, 2009
Such beautiful, even writing

How's your handwriting? If it's anything like mine, it's out of practice and a bit insecure.  I often find myself hesitating because I don't remember how a capital F or Q or whatever is formed.  With emails and texts and digital everything, who writes anymore?  Cursive writing is a dying art, and the few times ... “Thai Town Festival 2009 - Photos”

Sunday, April 5th, 2009
Young girls performing a traditional Thai dance.

Just got back from the New Year festival in Town Thai. It's in its 6th year and I've been to every single one. I've noticed that it gets bigger and more popular every year, which may seem like a good thing, but I find it less enjoyable because I have to inch my ... See Full Entry »

“Rainbows and Runny Noses (Photos)”

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009
Taken from my balcony, you can see Tim below looking at the rainbow.

This will be short. I've been really sick since Thursday. Probably the sickest I've ever been since I was a kid.  I actually went over 48 hours without eating anything simply because I had no appetite and literally could not stomach the thought of food. I think it was just a really bad cold. I had body ... See Full Entry »

“A Day Watching T.V. (Sorta)”

Monday, January 19th, 2009

I spent today catching up on a couple of my favorite television shows that recently had their series premieres. Friday was the start of the final season of Battlestar Galatica.  Since I don't have cable, I couldn't catch it Friday night on the sci-fi channel.  Instead, I found it online today and watched the full episode ... “Thanksgiving Table Setting - Boston 2006”

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

Thanksgiving is around the corner and I haven't made any plans yet! Usually it's just the two of us and the dogs. In the past we had a couple neighbors drop by. We'll probably end up with our usually turkey and sausage stuffing, some other sides, plenty of wine and a pumpkin pie. Yum! Two ... See Full Entry »

“She Who Dares by Audrey Kawasaki”

She Who Dares by Audrey Kawasaki

I love Audrey's work and would love to own an original, but they are way out of my price range.  She has prints for sale occasionally, with one going on sale this Sunday, but still, at $220 a print, it's too rich for my blood.  The way the sale is set up, it seems like ... See Full Entry »
