“Penny Being Penny”

Penny! That

During her recovery from the surgery, Penny started peeing on the balcony.  After 3 years of trying to get her to recognize it as an "ok place" to go, she finally realized it on her own! I'm glad that she can relieve herself anytime she wants.  The balcony is enclosed and has a drain which makes ... See Full Entry »

“Laryngeal Paralysis and Penny”

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

"My 11-year old yellow lab was recently diagnosed with Canine Laryngeal Paralysis following several frightening incidents when he became short of breath to the point that his gums and tongue turned blue. Canine Laryngeal Paralysis is a condition affecting the nerves that allow the larynx to open up when a dog takes a breath. For ... See Full Entry »

“An Update on my Mean Old Bitch, Jesse”

Jesse on her way home after the surgery.

Jesse's healing very nicely after surgery. She finished her round of pain/anti-inflammation pills and is almost done with her antibiotics.  Her fur is growing back and the bit of razor burn she had is now gone. There was also some swelling for a few days after the surgery but I'm happy to report ... See Full Entry »

Jesse being Jesse.

I know Penny gets a lot of coverage, but here's her best friend, Jesse: Jesse is almost 13, and for the past 11 years, we thought that she was a black Lab mix.  That's what it says on her papers from the Boston Animal Rescue League plus she looks like a black Lab.  She's obviously a mix ... Pennys Toy Box of Bones, Ropes, Balls and Stuffed Toys

Each time I walk in from work, Penny let's out an excited shriek and dashes over to her toy box.  After a bout of rummaging, her head resurfaces with today's toy.  She runs it over to me, her rear end wiggling wildly as if it had a mind of its own.  Does she want to ... See Full Entry »

“A Rant Against Breed Specific Legislation (BSL)”

Friday, October 8th, 2010
Beware the dangerous pit bull!

I just learned that my hometown, a city about 11 miles outside Boston, is implementing breed-specific legislation (BSL) against pit bulls.  Boston has had BSL for a while, and for the few months Penny and I lived in Boston, I had to get a special license for her, send in her picture, put up a ... “My 8-Year Old Pit Bull, Penny, Poses in the Bathroom”

Sunday, April 11th, 2010

Today was a bright, overcast day - perfect for taking pictures! We get a lot of natural light in the apartment and I snapped some shots of my 8-year old pit bull, Penny, in the bathroom earlier tonight. See Full Entry »
