“Mondays”

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

A typical conversation I had today when I asked if an absent coworker would continue to be out for the rest of the week:

Me: “Does anybody know if — is going to be out for the rest of the week?”

XXX: “Yes. He’s out today.”

(Huh?)

Me: “Well yeah, we all know he’s out today. So you’re saying he’s out for the week?”

XXX: “I don’t know if he’s out for the week.”

Um, okay. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

So what was the quick “Yes” in response to? Sadly, that happens all the time.

Some people have a very hard time admitting that they don’t know something. There is nothing wrong with not knowing an answer; admitting that you don’t know something doesn’t make you look bad. Quickly giving wrong or made-up answers just to give an answer, however, does.

“Globat.com Gives Holiday Bonuses to Web Hosting Affiliates”

Woohoo! A press release I wrote is live and has been picked up by industry sites:

Globat.com Gives Holiday Bonuses to Web Hosting Affiliates

It’s been a while since we’ve put out a press release. I quite enjoy writing them.

On an unrelated note (well, related to 2 or 3 posts down), I put on my gym shorts, made coffee, and am sitting here enjoying the breeze and sunshine from my open balcony door. I doubt I’ll be going to the gym. Oh well.

“I am NOT getting married!”

Monday, November 10th, 2008

I don’t know how, but it seems that a few of my friends back East (yes, you reading this!) have stumbled upon my test account for work. In case some of you guys don’t know, I work for a web hosting company and I have several test accounts (websites) so I can test our products and see how certain pages will perform on our servers.

Anyway, last week I decided to test out our website builder because a customer complained that it was not working correctly. Since I know that I often take things that come easily to me for granted, I decided to go through the process exactly as a customer would, so instead of making up a nonsensical website, I gave myself a focus and typed up some “real” content instead of the usual jibberish of afadfafdakfdakfas and so on.

Long story short, I picked the first template which striked my fancy and it so happened to be a wedding-themed template. I decided to just go with it and have a little fun along the way.

It is all made up! I am not getting married! I’m actually pregnant with twins!*

*If you believe that, I got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.
